Dedicated volunteer, Sue Fowler teaches important life skills such as cooking for one and healthy budget options through the Food Bank.
Lifestyle Cooking with Sue (in partnership with the Community Support Centre Haldimand-Norfolk) accepted $1,000 to support ongoing cooking classes that are geared to the Centre and Food Bank clients helping them learn creative ways to cook on a budget. With the grant, Sue was able to purchase 20 slow cookers for Food Bank clients in need. Along with the slow cookers, Fowler provided a booklet of simple, healthy, budget-friendly recipes.
“One family was so overwhelmed they had tears in their eyes. They had been cooking on a hot plate so this was a big change for them. Seeing their gratitude was the real reward.”
